15 hours of General English + 7,5 hours of FCE preparation
Timetable Monday - Friday: 9.00 – 12.15 General English (including 15 min break), 13.15 – 14.45 FCE Preparation
General English AM classes cover all language skills and systems with an integrated approach to teaching: grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, function; listening, speaking, reading, writing.
FCE Preparation classes focus on the skills and systems tested in the exam (reading, writing, listening, speaking, use of English), as well as vocabulary and grammar work, while incorporating special exam techniques.
What is FCE?
FCE is an exam for people who are of an upper intermediate level of English. This Cambridge ESOL exam is ideal for people who want to use English for work or study purposes and are required to give evidence of their abilities, or for people who want to mark their own progress in English language learning.
An FCE certificate is valid for life and is recognised around the world. Thousands of employers, universities and government departments officially recognise FCE as a qualification in upper intermediate English. FCE can be followed by higher qualifications such as the Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) and Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE). The test covers reading, writing, use of English, listening and speaking. The exam can either be paper-based or computer-based.
Where can I take the FCE exam?
The FCE examination can be taken all over the world and there are various exam centres in the city including our School which became an approved test centre for both the FCE and CAE exams in early 2011.
FCE exam dates in 2014: May 17, August 21, November 8.
Please note this course is only open to students of strong intermediate or upper intermediate level. You can attend the General English or General English Intensive course until you reach the required level. The course is divided into 4-week blocks to ensure that our course has a minimal amount of student changes, and more continuity. As the course is divided into 4-week blocks, you must study for a minimum of 4 weeks, e.g. 4, 8, 12, 16 weeks. Students must be 18 years old.
What materials will I use?
We use the latest course books and audio from major ELT publishers and supplement these with DVD, online resources, and authentic materials. Our experienced teachers also create their own materials for classes depending on the students' interests and needs. The materials cost is £25 per book used which is payable at the time of booking for all new students. For continuing students this fee has to be paid directly to the school office.
