Our teachers use a variety of creative approaches to ensure that the lessons are motivating, interesting, challenging and fun. We believe that if the teachers have high expectations, students achieve more. Our teachers are skilled professionals who understand their students’ needs and know how to provide the support and guidance that is needed in order for students to reach their maximum potential.
Structure & Approach
You can start and finish a General English course at any time. We have designed a rolling, topic based syllabus that allows our teachers to be creative and flexible in meeting students’ needs and wishes.
Lessons have a lot of variety in terms of activities, task types and topics and students are encouraged to speak, read, write and listen as much as possible. We have high expectations of our students but we are also very supportive and do everything we can to help students reach these expectations.
Materials
For each course you may use various coursebook materials, workbooks, audio, video and web materials, as well as other supplementary materials. We also do a lot of creative and project based work, including using our in-house recording studio from time to time.
How do I know which level to start?
When you come to our college you will do a placement test so that we can put you in the right class. The test is in two parts: a multiple choice grammar/vocabulary test (which you can also do online) and a face-to-face interview with a qualified teacher to test your speaking ability. Don’t worry! It is not stressful: just a friendly chat to find out how well you speak and what you want and need to learn.
How will you check my progress?
During your course you will have tests every month which will check your progress in vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing, listening and speaking. After each test, you will have an individual tutorial with your teacher where you can discuss your progress and make plans for the next stage of your course.
What do I get at the end of my language course?
At the end of your course you will have a final test to assess how much you have learnt. After taking the test students get a certificate which states the course name and CEFR level attained.
Our courses cover all aspects of the English language and work on improving your:
- speaking and pronunciation
- listening
- reading
- writing
- vocabulary
- grammar
*In exceptional circumstances we may allow class sizes of over 12 students until we open an additional class.
